Smart Start Canadian County
Serving Organizations that Help our Youngest Children.
Smart Start Canadian County is one of 18 Smart Start communities in Oklahoma addressing early childhood initiatives that support school readiness. The Smart Start vision is to ensure all children in Canadian County are safe, healthy, eager to learn, and ready to succeed by the time
they enter school. Smart Start Canadian County is actively involved in community initiatives, public engagement, resource development and public policy.
Smart Start Canadian County has distributed over 800 books to the community. We currently have 10 “Raising A Reader” sites that serve 228 children.
How Your Donations Make A Difference
Smart Start Canadian County has educated the public on the affects of Autism on early learning. School supplies have been provided to all foster children in Canadian County. Children participating in the rotating “Raising A Reader” program
are provided high quality books weekly to encourage language development and early literacy. Donated books are provided to the community through local events and health fairs. Trainings are provided for child care providers, parents, and the general community. A media campaign is being developed to let the entire community know about their role in the early education of our children.
